Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, among other speakers, will be espousing the legacies of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as an exemplar of good governance in the face of economic and security concerns.
Other speakers expected to share the podium with Mr. Aniagwu at the proposed Public Lecture organized by SIMACK Group scheduled to hold November 18, 2021 in Asaba include the State Commissioner of Police, the Controller of Nigeria Correctional Service and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
While receiving the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) yesterday, the Information Commissioner applauded them for seeking to collaborate with the state government in seeking ways to address social vices for the good of society.
‘’It is very clear that insecurity is, more or less, an evil wind that does no one any good to the extent that it reduces the ability of those in government to give strength to the promises that they have made to the people by way of executing its promises.
‘’But once we are able to deal with some of these vices i.e., cultism, banditry as we now know it, prostitution and the likes, we would have ended up helping the society. Good enough, we all belong to the society; irrespective of the strata we occupy. An unsafe society has a way of affecting the minds of those who live in it.
‘’Needn’t I tell you the consequences of having unsettled minds either at the helms of affairs or among the followers. So, it is for the good of us all that you are making this sacrifice and to that extent I appreciate you (SIMACK).
‘’It is also in our own self-enlightened interest to collaborate with persons who are favourably disposed to adding value to humanity. That being the case, we assure you of our support ahead of your scheduled public engagement on November 18 aimed at advancing peace and harmony in our society.

‘’Good enough, the second item of Governor Okowa’s SMART Agenda speaks directly to the issues that you have raised. It also talks of Meaningful Peace-Building aimed at creating harmonious relationships among the various ethnic groups in our state. Being able to do this, presupposes that we will put several platforms to help us advance the course of building that peace and harmony.
‘’Today, I am confident to report that there are enough evidence to report the fact that the efforts of Governor Okowa at building such meaningful platforms that has to do with peace has yielded verifiable results. Our state is much more peaceful, united. This is not to say that there are no challenges…’’ he said.
Earlier the Managing-Director of SIMACK, Mr. Sylvester Chukwurah intimated the Information Commissioner of the proposed Public Lecture themed ‘’Rise against Insecurity in Nigeria’’, adding that such responsibilities as tackling social vices should not be left for the government alone.
