The Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Honourable Julius Egbedi, has reiterated his commitment towards taking agriculture in the state to enviable heights.
The commissioner stated this when he resumed office in Asaba, the state capital, for the second time as the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources in the state.
Honourable Egbedi, while commending Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for giving him a second opportunity to serve in the same office, promised not to fail in the discharge of his duties.
The Agriculture Commissioner emphasised that in line with the governor’s agenda, Agriculture would continue to take its pride of place in the global economy, and stated that he would go all out to achieve required results in the sector.
Honourable Egbedi called on staff of the ministry to cooperate with him by ensuring that all hands were on deck to move ministry to the envisaged height, especially in areas were the state government was collaborating with the Central Bank of Nigeria in oil palm, cassava and rice cultivation programmes.
He urged the Delta Agricultural Rural Development Authority (DARDA), FADMA and the Delta State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme (D-CARES) Coordinators to initiate programmes to enable governor Okowa finish stronger in the agricultural sector.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Ben Agama, in an earlier address, expressed appreciation to the governor for reappointment Honourable Ebgedi as a commissioner and deploying him to the ministry, adding that it was an index that he performed well in his first tenure in the ministry.
He promised the support of management and staff of the ministry to actualise envisaged goals.
The high point of the occasion was the handing over by the permanent secretary of requisite documents to the commissioner, to the administration of all present .
