The Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Lawrence Ejiofor has endorsed the ‘’Straight to Screen’’ workshop organised by the Actors Guild of Nigeria Television.
The Commissioner who gave this endorsement in his office, during a courtesy visit by the Actors Guild of Nigeria Television (AGNTv), applauded the concept behind the workshop and assured them of his presence at the opening.
He disclosed that the Film village which is a huge show of the state government’s endorsement of themovie industry, would be completed in October, and become a full time home for the industry.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Akuma Davis, Senior Special Adviser to the AGN president on content creation explained that AGNTv is a mediaplatform meant to pass information about movies, Actors and issues surrounding the industry.
Mr Akuma said the ‘’Straight to Screen’’ workshop is geared towards training and giving instant visibility to talented young stars interested in the industry. He disclosed that though a national project, 80% of the participants are Deltans.
He said the workshop holds at Don and Masters hallon DBS road, 3rd to 15th May, and is aimed at improving standards in the Nigerian movie industry to meet up with ongoing reformations in the creative industry.
He disclosed that the decision to hold the event in Asaba stems from the fact that the state capital has become a steady location for shooting movies, hence the desire to encourage participation from within.
The highlight of the visit was the decoration of the Commissioner who was given the title of a gold supporter, with a vest, cap and accessories of the AGNTv.
