The Honorable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Lawrence Ejiofor has once again applauded the Governor Okowa Administration as he referred the Leisure park and film village as a people centered project.
The Commissioner who happens to be the head of the overseeing directorate of the project made this assertion during an oversight function, by the House Committee on Arts, Culture and Tourism.
He assured that Delta is on the right track with this state of the art project and made it clear that all hands are on deck to deliver in due time which he disclosed to be December 2021.
Ejiofor also stated that several other professionals are being consulted to ensure “the project can run itself effectively, provide jobs for our people and still generate revenue for the government year in, year out”.
The Chairman, House Committee on Art, Tourism and Culture, Hon. Asupa Forteta, having gone round the facility with his colleagues, stated that the film village is a fulfillment of the Smart Delta agenda of this administration for all Deltans.
He thanked the Governor for bringing home the kind of comfort many would go outside the country to seek and expressed satisfaction at the quality of the project, stressing that it is second to none in the Country.
Lending his voice to the Chairman’s, Hon. Emeka Onyeobi, a member of the Committee, appreciated the design and quality of structures as well as the work done in tackling the flood. He said the project is certainly a tourist attraction referring to it asDisney brought land home.
The Consultant who led the Committee on the tour Kester Ifeadi, gave clarity on the project so far. He disclosed that two thousand trees have been transplanted into the premises out of the proposed twenty thousand trees to be transplanted.
In response to handling the flooding challenge, he assured the Committee that the flood level was a basic design parameter and has been totally taken care of as the ground was raised tenmeters above water level, retaining walls erected and a properdrainage constructed.
He mentioned the features of the project to include; the observation tower, a zoo, studio, amphitheater, artificial lake, hotels, food court, hostels, amongst others while giving a quick peek into how the project would be run upon completion.
He assured that systems are being put in place for effectiveness and sustainability including the use of practitioners who run successful parks around the Country.
