GOV OKOWA CONGRATULATES LIYEL IMOKE AT 60
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has congratulated former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, as he clocks 60
Imoke a former Senator, was Minister of Power during the Obasanjo Administration and later elected Governor of Cross River State in 2007.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, Okowa said Imoke’s tenure as governor had remained a highly reference mark in the state.
He lauded him for his outstanding leadership and immense contributions to the growth and development of the state.
He particularly commended the former governor for taking up the gauntlet to provide leadership for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, following the exit of the incumbent governor to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okowa said that Imoke’s efforts at developing Cross River State were tremendous, adding that his contributions to the development of Nigeria as a former Minister of Power were remarkable.
According to Okowa, Senator Imoke demonstrated immense courage and determination to protect the lives and property of Cross River people, amid daunting challenges when he served as the governor of the state.
“Your Excellency, your selfless and impressive performance as Governor of Cross River has already distinguished you as an emerging nationalist and one to look out for in the political firmament of our great nation.”
“At a very young age of 30, you were elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1991 and later Minister of Power between 2003 and 2007.”
“And, for your outstanding accomplishments in public service, you were elected Governor of Cross River in 2007 and re-elected in 2011.”
“Since leaving office in 2015, you have remained a great figure and an inspirational leader for our great party in your state and country,” he said.
“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta, I congratulate an amazing administrator, outstanding statesman and a consummate politician, Senator Liyel Imoke, on his 60th birth anniversary.”
“On this auspicious occasion in your life, I join your family, friends and well wishers to thank Almighty God for His continued goodness to you,” Okowa added.

AGBOR GAS EXPLOSION : DTSG GIVES MORE ASSISTANCE TO VICTIMS

As part of efforts at supporting victims of the Agbor gas explosion, which occurred on January 22, 2021, the Delta State Government has given out cheques to victims of the incident to cushion their suffering.
The Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, presented the cheques to the victims in his office in Asaba, the state capital, on behalf of the state government.
The SSG said that the gesture was one of the efforts of the state government at alleviating the plights of the victims.
Chief Ukah noted that the sad event was traumatic, adding that the state government had earlier rendered assistance to the affected persons, which included the settlement of hospital bills and several other support efforts to assist the survivors.
“Our gathering today is simply to show government’s empathy to the situation of the families of the bereaved,” he added.
Chief Ukah commended the Onu Ika Gas Explosion Committee for the efforts they made in raising over N20 million naira for the victims as initial support after the gas plant explosion, acknowledging that they had lived up to their ideology.
The SSG assured residents of the state that government was looking into the report from the committee which was set up to find out the cause of the explosion and would implement its recommendations to ensure that there was no reoccurrence of such disaster in the state.
On behalf of the victims, the leader of the delegation, Elder Dan Usifo, appreciated the kind gesture of the state government .
Elder Usifo recalled that the state Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, and his entourage went physically to see what happened immediately the incident occurred and since then government had not relented in providing support for the victims and their families.

TPDC WORKSHOP ON TEACHING : DIBASHI CHARGES PARTICIPATING TEACHERS TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE GAINED IN TEACHING

Participating teachers in the ongoing training at the Teachers Professional Development Centre (TPDC), Owa-Oyibu in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State have been charged to effectively apply the knowledge gained from the training in teaching.
The Director General (DG), Coordinator of the centre, Dr Anthony Dibashi, gave the charge at the close of the first batch of the training exercise, organised for the heads of primary schools across the state.
The DG said that the teachers would be strictly monitored to ascertain the extent of their application of what they had learnt from the training, towards the development of the teaching profession.
Dr. Dibashi stated that teachers were recognised in the state, adding that, that realisation informed the establishment of the TPDC to enhance their continuous upgrading and development in the teaching profession, just as he disclosed that the training would be continuously organised in batches to accommodate all the teachers in the state.
Responding on behalf of the participants, Mr Izuogu Eddy, commended the governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, for approving the training, promising that they would return to the class rooms with much more vigor, informed and equipped with knowledge of modern teaching techniques.
He also commended the management of TPDC for the welfare provided for the teachers during the training period, stressing that teachers had never had it so good in the state, just as he enthused that “we were well fed, we had a befitting accommodation, sound lectures and comfortable lecture theatre.”
The training which centred on “Curriculum Leadership and Implementation Strategies” was handled by seasoned lecturers from the Delta State University, Abraka.
The highpoint of the training programme was the official presentation of certificates to the participants by the DG of the centre.

GOV OKOWA GETS COMMENDATION FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE

A Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Okowa of Delta State on Transportation, Chief Francis Arhiyor, has lauded the governor over his purposeful governance in the state
Arhiyor’s commendation was contained in a statement on his good will message to the governor on the occasion of his ( Governor Okowa ) 62 years birthday anniversary.
The statement described Governor Okowa as a patriotic leader and commended him for his efforts towards providing the dividends of democracy to Deltans .
The Uvwie born politician and philanthropist also acknowledged Governor Okowa’s effort in managing the challenges of the state through his proactive and pragmatic policies and programmes as encapsulated in his SMART Agenda.
“As the Governor of Delta State, you have been striving to provide good governance and deliver on the aspirations and developmental needs of the good people of the state,” the statement added, while also urging all Deltans to key into Stronger Delta Agenda of Governor Okowa in order to take the state to greater heights.

SCHOOL PROPRIETOR DESCRIBES EDUCATION AS PASSPORT FOR THE FUTURE

The Proprietress of St. Anastasia Heights Montessori International School, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief (Mrs) Anastasia Onisuru Agbatutu, has asserted that education was a passport to the future.
She made the assertion in her welcome address during the school’s 26th graduation / prize giving day ceremony at the Uvwie Hall, PTI Road, Effurun on Friday, July 9, 2021.
She said that one of the major objectives of her school was to provide quality education in the 21st Century, bequeath a solid and lasting education embedded with moral values, the fear of God and respect for man, adding that the school was an academic centre where champions were raised and prepared to make a difference in the world.
Mrs Agbatutu advised the outgoing students to be industrious, respectful and avoid bad friends, adding that they should remain focused on what they wanted to become in the future.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the event, Mrs Agbatutu disclosed that the school had produced lawyers, doctors, engineers and other professionals who, she said, were doing well in their fields of endeavours.
While emphasising on the importance of quality education for the boy or girl child, she asserted that the inherent values of a good education was not easily seen in the present, but became manifest in the future.
High point of the occasion, which featured several side attractions, including beauty pageant, Bailey dance and many more, was the presentation of certificates and awards to the departing students.

LEADERSHIP OF PDP ASSERTS GOV OKOWA’S DEVELOPMENTAL IMPACTS IN DELTA

Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), leaders and elders forum in Ogwashi Uku have said that the governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, had positively transformed the state by bringing prosperity to the state through his various people oriented programmes and projects.
They made the remarks shortly after a meeting at their leader’s residence, Chief A.C Okocha, at Ogwashi-Uku, the administrative headquarters of Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The group said that Governor Okowa would ever be remembered by the people of the area, adding that the development so far witnessed by the people under Okowa Administration was the first of its kind, since the creation of the local government.
They said that the appointment of Honourable Pascal Adigwe as one of the special advisers to the governor was a pointer that the governor had the interest of the area at heart, adding that Ogwashi-Uku people would continue to give him the needed support.

PRINCIPAL PROMISES PROTECTION OF SCHOOL PROPERTY IN DELTA

The Principal of Nshiagu College at Ogwashi-Uku, in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta Sate, Mr Stephen Efienemokwu, has said that infrastructures put in place in the school by the state government would be protected.
He made this known during the 57th annual Inter House Sport Competition of the school at Ogwashi-Uku.
While saying that students were the main hope of their parents and the nation at large, he appealed to parents to see their children education as a top priority.
He called on students to take their studies seriously, respect constituted authorities and abstain from social vices, such as cultism, indecent dressing and others that could destroy their future.
He commended the traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, Obi Ifechukwude Okonjo11, the Old Students Association of the college under the leadership of Chief Austin Ikenye, the house patrons, Parents and tTeachers Association (PTA) and chief Inugonum for their continuous support for the school.
The principal enumerated some of the changes of the school to include perimeter fencing for the safety of the school and students, provision of science block and equipment, computer laboratory, library and modern books that would enhance learning.
