2023 GENERAL ELECTIONS: PDP BEING REPOSITIONED FOR VICTORY — SAYS GOV OKOWA
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was being repositioned from the grassroots to the national level to enable the party provide the needed leadership that Nigerians had been yearning for, come 2023.
Governor Okowa stated this when the PDP flagged off its ward to ward campaign rally for the April 10 State House of Assembly bye- election for Isoko North Local Government Area of the state.
He noted that Nigerians have gone through untold hardship since the PDP left the government at the centre in 2015, stressing that all issues confronting the nation would be a thing of the past by the time the party reclaimed political power in 2023.
He said that there was the need for the people of Isoko North to vote massively for the PDP candidate, Mr. Jude Ogbimi, in the forthcoming bye election to enable him occupy the gap created by the demise of Honourable Tim Owhefere.
“I am truly excited with the turn out of members and supporters of the PDP to this ward to ward campaign rally.”
“Isoko North people surprised me with their massive turn out at the flag off of this campaign rally. They should translate this large turn out into massive votes for the PDP candidate in the April 10 bye election.”
“We are building the party from the grassroots to enable us take over the government at the centre (Abuja) in 2023,” Okowa said, just as he thanked leaders of the party in Isoko North for the unity of purpose among them.
The governor who was addressing members of the party and supporters at Owhelogbo ward 5, Otibio (Otor-Igho) ward 13 and Otor-Owhe ward 6, reiterated his administration’s commitment to the empowerment of Deltans and infrastructural transformation.
He disclosed that the massive road construction, appointment of Isoko North people into key positions and the upgrade of the Ozoro Polytechnic to a full fledged university of Science and Technology were clear attestations of his love for the Isoko people.
On the requests made by various communities in the area, Governor Okowa said that the requests would be considered with a view to attending to some of them with consideration of available resources.
Presenting the party’s flag to the candidate, the PDP state Chairman, Olorogun Kingsley Esiso, charged members of the party to work as a team to ensure that the party emerged victorious in the bye election.
Esiso said that the PDP was sure of victory because of the people oriented projects and human capital development of the Senator Okowa led administration in all parts of the state.
In their separate remarks, Senator James Manager and the former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Honourable Leo Okuwe Ogor, said that Isoko North was home for the PDP and expressed hope that the PDP would emerge victorious, come April 10.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the PDP in Isoko North, Prince Godwin Ogorugba, the Commissioner for Transport, Honourable Oviemunor Oghoore and Comrade Ovouzuorie Macaulay said that they were happy with the unity among stakeholders of the party in the area and urged the teeming supporters of the PDP to come out in their large numbers to cast their vote for the PDP candidate.
Other speakers at the rally, including community leaders, thanked Governor Okowa for linking all parts of the state with good road networks and bridges, even as they appealed to him not to relent in his resolve to build a Stronger Delta State.
The PDP candidate, Mr. Ogbimi, thanked Governor Okowa and the leadership of the party at the state and local government levels for the opportunity given to him and pledged to represent the interest of all when he emerged victorious.

DTSG COMMISSIONS PROTOTYPE CLEAN WATER SCHEME AT OKPANAM

The Delta State Government has said that it was ready to key into partnership initiative that would be beneficial to Deltans and residents of the state through the provision of quality services, facilities and employment opportunities in the state.
The Governor of the state, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, made this known during the commissioning of the prototype Delta State Clean Water Project at Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.
Senator Okowa who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Chiedu Ebie said that it had always been the intention of his administration to prioritise the eradication of diseases through the provision of conducive environment and necessary water sanitation and hygiene across the state.
“Our partnership with Emani Global Network Limited is a novel one that is expected to impart the benefiting communities and other Deltans, as they will enjoy potable water which is required for good health, and also business opportunities and job creation,” the governor said.
He commended the efforts of the Ministry of Water Resources Development and the contractors, partners towards the efficient delivery of the legacy project in record time.
Governor Okowa stated that the contractors had shown great determination to uphold the terms of agreement with the State Government which, he said, was to compliment the effort of his administration to make life better for the people of the state.
He equally commended the Okpanam Community for their cooperation with his administration and urged them to continue to support the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the laudable programme of his administration.
Earlier in his welcome speech, the Commissioner, Ministry of Water Resources Development, Rt. Hon. Dr Martins Okonta said that the concept of the Delta Clean Water Project was informed by the pressing need to sustain the availability of wholesome drinking water across the state, in order to forestall outbreaks of cholera and water borne diseases.
He said that the state government opted for the Public Private Partnership (PPP) in order to ensure that safe water for drinking was always available in the communities, no matter the prevailing economic situation.
In his remarks the Ugo-Ani of Okpanam, Dr Michael Ogbolu Mbanefo, commended the state government for the massive road development in the community and also for selecting Okpanam community as the first community to host the prototype Delta State Clean Water Project.
He assured that the community would continue to support the administration of Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.
Also in his remarks, the Managing Director, Emani Global Network Limited, Mr Emmanuel Oshiegbu, thanked the state government for the opportunity given to his firm to carry out the project.
He stated that his firm was able to deliver a world class project as a result of the commitment of the state government to the project.

APPOINTMENT OF PS: EDEWOR APPRECIATES GOV OKOWA, URGES FOR COMMITMENT IN SERVICE

Civil servants in Delta State have been advised to always discharge their duties effectively so as to add the much needed value for the growth of the state civil service.
A newly appointed Permanent Secretary (PS) in the state civil service , Engr . Blessing Edewor, gave the advice in Asaba, the state capital, while speaking to journalist on his appointment by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Engr. Edewor, who described Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa as a detribalised, visionary leader whose giant strides in several sectors of the economy had continued to endear him to Deltans, said that the governor had demonstrated his administration’s friendliness to civil servants as well as uncommon commitments to socioeconomic development of the state.
While saying that he was highly elated to be appointed as a PS in the state civil service, Engr. Edewor noted that the governor acknowledged credibility and commitment among civil servants in the state.
He stated that there was the need for civil servants to jealously guide their jobs by ensuring that they continued to perform optimally in the task of implementing the policies and programmes of the state government.
He underscored the importance of humility and development of positive attitudes towards service delivery, saying that every positive character among officers should be sustained for the benefits of the state.
Engr. Edewor said that the state government had ways of rewarding diligence and commitments , stressing that the appointment would encourage him to add more values to the civil service, just as he enjoined the younger generation of civil servants to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations guiding the service.
He extolled the contributions of the outgone Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water Resources, Dr.(Mrs) Felicia Adun, adding that her efforts in the growth of the ministry, especially in implementation of the policies and programmes of the state government, concerning the mandate of the ministry, was outstanding.

OSHIMILI NORTH LGC LAW MAKER COMMENDS GOV OKOWA OVER WATER SCHEME, OTHER PROJECTS

The Chief Whip of Oshimili North Local Government Legislative Arm and Councillor representing Okpanam ward 9A in the council, Honourable Sunday Jeffrey Mordi, has commended the state governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, for initiating and completing a water supply scheme through public private partnership arrangement at Okpanam.
Speaking to newsmen, shortly after the commissioning of the project by Governor Okowa, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Chiedu Ebie, Honourable Mordi, popularity known as Olaola, described water as essential for the survival of humanity, adding that Governor Okowa had brought new life to Okpanam by providing the community with clean drinking water.
He commended Governor Okowa for the various infrastructural developments in the community, especially for the choice of Okpanam as a pilot community to benefit from the initiative, adding that several roads had being constructed and commissioned in the area.
The councillor also lauded the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Patrick Ukah for his immense contributions in attracting meaningful socioeconomic projects to the community.
He said that the people in the area were proud of the unprecedented performance of the governor in the locality, adding that they would continue to support and ensure the actualisation of the Stronger Delta vision of the Okowa Administration.
Honourable Mordi said that Okpanam Community had been greatly transformed since the assumption of office in 2015 of Okowa as the governor of the state, adding that the new water scheme would contribute towards eradicating water borne diseases through the supply of clean, potable water in the community.
He urged the people of the community to ensure its maintenance at all times and jealously guide it from being vandalised.

CAN SOLICITS WARRI NORTH LGC SUPPORT FOR ITS ACTIVITIES

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Warri North Chapter, has solicited the support of the Warri North Local Government Council (LGC) Chairman, Honourable Smart Yomi Asekutu, for some of its forthcoming activities in the area.
The President of the association, Rev. Anthony Ajagboma, state this when he led some senior members of the association on a courtesy visit to the office of chairman in Koko, the administrative headquarters of the council area to register their spiritual and moral support to the council.
“We congratulate you on your electoral victory, and thank God for the peaceful conduct of the elections.”
“We have come to register our spiritual and moral support for the council, since it is under a new leadership. This visit is also to intimate you of some of our activities. The association is planning holding a major crusade once every year in the locality in addition to our monthly prayer, and we seek your support to ensure its success,” he said.
While saying that the crusade would be beneficial to the council, and also bring the people of the area closer to God, the CAN president thanked the council boss for the warmth reception accorded them.
He stressed the need for all totally surrender to the God, adding that He would always direct the affairs of men when called upon in prayers.
Responding, Honourable Asekutu assured them of his support and requested that the monthly prayers be spread across the wards in the council area, just as he thanked them for their support, adding that they should always pray for the success of his administration.

YOUTHS UNLEASH TERROR ON WARRI RESIDENTS

Hell was let loosed as some youths suspected to be Hausa unleashed terror on residents of Warri, the administrative headquarters of Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, shortly after the interment of an Hausa at the Warri Cemetery in the mid morning of Wednesday March 31, 2021.
The unidentified youths went on rampage, as they stabbed law abiding citizens and destroyed scores of vehicles, particularly commercial buses in their state of hostilities.
The area was in a state of confusion, as stores were hurriedly locked up with people running for their dear lives.
A source alleged that some armed security operatives, who had accompanied the youths to the Warri Cemetery, were present during the unprovoked attack on law abiding citizens.
However, it was gathered that it took the intervention of men of the Nigerian Army, attached to the nearby Alele Garrison, to restore normalcy to the area.
Some of the damaged commercial buses were seen parked at MRS Filling Station, along the Warri-Sapele Road by the Cemetery Road Junction, but no life has been reported lost as a result of the sudden upheaval in the area.
