UKODIHKO ASSURES OF REGULAR SUPPLY OF ELECTRICITY IN DELTA

Deltans have been assured of improved power supply in every part of the state towards the actualisation of the Stronger Delta vision of the state government.
The assurance was given by the newly appointed Commissioner for Energy, Mr Jonathan Ukodhiko, an engineer, upon assumption of duty at the Ministry of Energy in Asaba, the state capital.
The commissioner, while expressing appreciation to the permanent secretary and her team for a warmth reception, promised to serve Delta State judiciously.
He called on the staff of the ministry to cooperate with him, adding that he had come to take ministry to enviable heights.
Mr Ukodhiko explained that electricity was indispensable and key to the economic development of every state or society.
The commissioner urged the staff to use their wealth of experience to improve on their productivities.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Anthonia Ubogu, while welcoming the commissioner, congratulated him on his well deserved appointment.
She assured the commissioner of the cooperation of the ministry’s workforce to help the government of the day finish strong.

EGBEDI RESUMES OFFICE, PROMISES TO TAKE AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT TO GREATER HEIGHTS IN DELTA

The Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Honourable Julius Egbedi, has reiterated his commitment towards taking agriculture in the state to enviable heights.
The commissioner stated this when he resumed office in Asaba, the state capital, for the second time as the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources in the state.
Honourable Egbedi, while commending Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for giving him a second opportunity to serve in the same office, promised not to fail in the discharge of his duties.
The Agriculture Commissioner emphasised that in line with the governor’s agenda, Agriculture would continue to take its pride of place in the global economy, and stated that he would go all out to achieve required results in the sector.
Honourable Egbedi called on staff of the ministry to cooperate with him by ensuring that all hands were on deck to move ministry to the envisaged height, especially in areas were the state government was collaborating with the Central Bank of Nigeria in oil palm, cassava and rice cultivation programmes.
He urged the Delta Agricultural Rural Development Authority (DARDA), FADMA and the Delta State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme (D-CARES) Coordinators to initiate programmes to enable governor Okowa finish stronger in the agricultural sector.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Ben Agama, in an earlier address, expressed appreciation to the governor for reappointment Honourable Ebgedi as a commissioner and deploying him to the ministry, adding that it was an index that he performed well in his first tenure in the ministry.
He promised the support of management and staff of the ministry to actualise envisaged goals.
The high point of the occasion was the handing over by the permanent secretary of requisite documents to the commissioner, to the administration of all present .

REVENUE GENERATION : UP DELTA READY TO PARTNER DTSG

The Chairman of the Delta State Management Committee on Public Motor Parks in Oshimili North Local Government Branch, Mr Joshua Chukwu, has affirmed the commitments of the union across the state to partner the Delta State Government (DTSG) to improve the internally generated revenues from motor parks in the state.
Mr Chukwu, who stated this in his office while addressing journalists in Akwuku Igbo, headquarters of Oshimili North Local Government, said that the union, particularly in Oshimili North, was well organised, working in a peaceful environment to enhance the realisation of the stronger Delta mantra of the state government.
He disclosed that the union had continued to remit the requisite percentage of its daily collections to the state government and the local government treasuries, adding that the state government should provide another park for the motor bike riders, as they were being disrupted from operating in the motor park in the area.
He appealed to the state government to provide intra-state mini buses to complement the private vehicles in the parks, just as he reiterated the need to relocate the present park in Akwuku Igbo to a more strategic location in the locality.

UGIU NEW PG DESCRIBES GOV OKOWA AS PRUDENT MANAGER OF RESOURCES

The new President-General (PG) of Uvwie General Improvement Union ( UGIU ), Chief Hope Abovi Erute, has asserted that His Excellency, Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State was a prudent manager of resources.
Erute made the assertion while fielding questions on his assessment of the governor’s performance so far in a media interaction with journalists at his office at the Uvwie Hall, PTI Road, Effurun on Tuesday July 6, 2021.
“I must commend Governor Okowa for his commitment towards the development of Uvwie Local Government Area in the state, particularly in the area of drainage construction.”
He urged the governor to continue his commitment towards the development of Uvwie Local Government Area, noting that Governor Okowa was very prudent.
He said that in spite of the poor economy in the country, Governor Okowa had been able to performed beyond the expectations of the people.
Chief Erute expressed the hope that Governor Okowa would bring more dividends of democracy to Deltans and residents in the state in his remaining two years in office as the governor of the state.
While assessing the performance of his predecessor, Chief Austin Ukuwrere, Chief Erute declared that Chief Ukuwrere performed well, going by the fact that he ( Ukuwrere ) was able to keep UGIU intack without rancour or bitterness.
The new PG of UGIU noted that his predecessor brought life into the apex sociocultural body in Uvwie kingdom, going by the interest a lot of Uvwie people indicated in the election that brought him to office.
He urged Uvwie people to be very prayerful and to also shun all kind of agitations, adding that HRM Abe, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom and the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council Honourable Ramson Onoyake were performing well.

CULTURE ENCOMPASSES TRADITION — SAYS OBENE

The Representative of the Zonal Manager of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC ), High Chief Anderson Obene, has asserted that culture encompasses tradition.
He made the assertion in his key note address during the maiden edition of the cultural day celebration at the NNPC leadership Academy at Ekpan in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
He noted that a lot of children could not speak nor write in their local dialects, adding that most of them fancied the white man’s culture more than the way of life of Africans.
Obene reiterated that culture meant a way of life, saying that It talked about who you were, where you were from, adding that people should be proud of speaking their local dialects.
Speaking in the same vein, the Headmaster of the school , Mrs Patience Eweye in her welcome address , asserted that culture couls be revived through music.
she expressed her gratitude to the parents for the role they played in making the celebration a huge success.
The epoch making event featured different cultural dances by pupils and students of the school who thrilled guests to their satisfaction.
