Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways & Urban), Engr Noel Omodon has called on engineers to go for professionalism which sets their works apart.
Engr Omodon made the call today when the Executive members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Asaba branch paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Asaba.
According to Engr Omodon, professionalism was a big task which must be adhered to, and built upon, saying that he would always encourage professionalism.
According to him, depth and detail had a lot to do in the work of the ministry, which was very essential, even as he said, “what makes you unique as an engineer is what you do that others are not doing. This is why people accept works done by the ‘whiteman’ because he pays attention to details.”
The works commissioner (Highways & Urban), stated that the ministry would at all time impress the public by giving its best in every engineering project.
He thanked the association for the visit, even as he assured that he would always identify with them because they are partner in progress.
Earlier, the Chairman of NSE, Asaba branch, Engr Christopher Ayidu had told the Works Commissioner that the Association visited him to furnish him with its activities since Works ministry was a major Engineering Ministry in the state.
Engr Ayidu who urged the Works Commissioner to use his wealth of experience to do justice to the task ahead, implored him to encourage the training and retraining of Engineers in the Ministry to boost their performance and service delivery.
He also urged the Commissioner to identify with the activities of the association in the state as it is the umbrella body of all engineers.
Present at the visit were the Director of Highways (South), Engr Joshua Egube; Director of Highways (North), Dr (Mrs) Juliet Aboloje, the Secretary of NSE, Asaba branch, Engr Fidelis Offa among others.
